I was planning on writing a blog this morning, but got called unexpectedly to the hospital. There was an unusual cardiac problem that required emergency surgery. While at work, I had a conversation with an experienced colleague about the patient's clinical presentation, their altered physiology and the anesthetic implications. On my drive home, I was thinking how a conversation like that would have gotten Mike going. He loved cardiology and he also loved the challenge of understanding complicated clinical problems. I have many fond memories of us chatting and sharing interesting things that we experienced while at work. He was curious, bright and inspiring. It was nice thinking about Mike today.
