More coffee musings...

Darren & I shared a chuckle this week when we heard on the news that Kingston was to be one of two Ontario test markets for Tim Horton's new cup sizes. No longer will the small 8 oz cup be available, but instead the old "medium" will be called "small", and all the sizes along the line are increased, with the introduction of a new "extra-large" at the top end that is 24 oz (710mls)!!!

As has been mentioned numerous times in this blog,
1) Mike loved his coffee
2) Mike loved premium high-end coffee
3) Mike loved items which held quality over quantity
We decided that Mike would definitely not be a fan of the new Tim's sizes, more likely to enjoy his moderately-sized cup of homemade Starbucks or Cooke's, or a treat from Pan Chancho or Coffee & Company downtown.  Darren was a 'regular' coffee drinker until spending a few months with Mike when he too was converted to a "coffee snob".  There was no way to slip a pot of Maxwell House past Mike, no way.  Even after we moved to Moncton, Mike and Sarah sent a years supply of Cooke's coffee out to Moncton as a wedding present.
If the Kingston test market proves successful, I guess we'll all be able to access a giant XL 710ml Tim's coffee across the country in the future... If you ever find yourself ordering one of those bohemoths, know that Mike would be mocking you for your decision and would encourage you to choose something smaller and more refined!
