September

September brings me to the thought of fresh starts-- the beginning of the school year.  Mike and I both love that September feeling- the anticipation of something new along with the smell of fall and the need to dig out jeans and a cozy wool sweater (in case Mike got a little 'chill'-- maybe even a toque for good measure!).  That's why we planned our wedding in September -- it just seemed like the right time of year for us.

It's making me think, if Mike were here...
...he'd be pining to go camping under the autumn stars
...he'd be planning to watch at least a few Queen's football games with Lucas Alumni-side
...he'd lament the return of the students (which always made me laugh, given his always-a-student life)
...he'd be planning his first pot of chili and looking forward to Chili-Fest
...he'd be very excited about the prospect of apple picking-- macs, macs and more macs
...he'd be hoping for a few more summer thunderstorms
As I type this, I can hear the faint rumble of a thunderstorm.  Mike would have been out on the front porch, with his coffee in hand (hand over coffee).  He'd be breathing in deeply that summer rain smell as the first drops hit the warm pavement and reclining in full-on pleasure. Good bye summer.  Hello Fall.

  1. Sarah - those are fall moments so many treasure .... but Mike named that he treasured them. His thought - full approach to life is notable and that he lived life "slowly" despite the pacing of his busy, busy days.
