Taken on Sydenham St., 1998, Star Wars something? ....
When my husband Mike and I drove to Kingston last June for the celebration of Mike's life, we had 5 hours to talk and reflect.
We talked so much about Mike and his path & passion to reach his dreams. Starting (to my recollection) in Phys Ed., he transferred to Health Sciences? Biology?, then did a masters, then medical school and all of the processes & steps that that involved. In my first meeting with Mike in a 4th group project, he immediately took on a role that would complement his dream of practicing medicine ... he researched if there were any medical schools in Ontario or Canada that included the study of evolutionary medicine in their medical programs. Without going back and reading the paper we ultimately wrote, my memory is that evolutionary medicine had no place in any medical program he had investigated. A piece to his puzzle found.
We talked about our own lack of goal setting - that life seemed to be getting ahead of us and we were no longer "thinking big". Surviving seemed to be our ultimate theme.
We set a couple of goals that trip that have since been realized - Mike just ran a 1/2 marathon in London and ran it in just under his goal time. I took a year off from work and we are more on track with the day to day and the bigger picture.
Mike's goal setting and passion for achieving his goals is a recurring theme in his blog - the reminders of his inspiring life moves continue to motivate :)
