X-Men Super-Fan

The new X-Men movie was released June 3rd-- and Mike would have been recruiting friends to see this one!    I know for certain Mike would have eagerly checked out this trailer, raving about its cool-factor.  I have consumed my fair share of superhero movies along side Mike and even enjoyed some...  Mike loved super heros, as we all know-- transfixed by them as a kid and that fascination never really let up.   Super heros were the perfect muse for a teenage boy playing football and honing his skills in life drawings.  In med school application, he even wrote about how his anatomically exaggerated super hero drawings were linked to an early interest in medicine and anatomy.

For Mike, I think there was something too about the ultimate good fight-- that clear, distinction between good and evil.  Add in cool special effects, cool guys, cool technology and the combination was impossible to resist!

Mike saved many drawings of his favourite super hero, Wolverine.  Wolverine was one tough dude, a dark, brooding silent type with really really long razor-like claws.   Eventually we'll frame some of these drawings for Lucas' room but they are a little too gory just yet...

Of course, Mike was nothing like brooding, dangerous Wolverine.  But he was our super-hero.  Lucas and Emily will grow up to learn more about their amazing Daddy-- goofy-smiling-loving-courageous-smart-wonderful-super-Daddy!
p.s. Matthew, does the trailer inspire you to see the movie?

  1. Every dad's dream is to be a superhero to his children :) Mike achieved that in so many ways.
