Another Rainbow Connection

Until Sarah posted her first entry onto this blog we had never heard the story of Mike and his family’s connection to rainbows. Once we realized the significance of rainbows then it made our first blog entry quite clear.

Wednesday, June 16, 2010, 6pm:

It was raining as we left Picton for Mike’s funeral home visitation in Kingston.  We always drive along a stretch of highway that hugs Lake Ontario and we have often commented on how much we enjoy this route as it is so peaceful and pastoral. But on this occasion, it was a dreary evening to match our dreary moods, mourning the loss of our dear friend. By the time we crossed the ferry, the rain was slowing up and the sky was clearing with the sun setting in the west behind our car as we drove east along the lake.  About 10 mins off the ferry toward Kingston, not one, but TWO FULL side-to-side rainbows appeared stretched out before us.  We were amazed, neither of us having ever seen rainbows quite that spectacular before.  We commented on how amazing and rare this must be and we knew it must have been a little bit of magic from Mike, letting us know that somehow, everything would be ok without him and that he was doing alright.

We have talked about those two beautiful rainbows many times since when we drive to or from Kingston, and we smile and think about our marvelous friend Mike. We miss you.
