In 1998 Mike drove up to Barrie to visit Sarah and met my Mother (Nanny to Sarah,Catherine and Tom) who was living with us at the time. Sadly she passed away in December 1998. My Mom liked Mike. She was the best judge of character I've known.
Now it is commonly understood that we Dads are protective of our daughters and severely scrutinize every suitor who dares cross our threshhold. So Mom's endorsment of Mike confirmed my own 'approval rating' of Sarah's suitor.
Having met Mom, Mike shared lovingly his fond memories of his own grandmother(Dennis' Mom) who lived with them for a number of years. His warm recounting of how he enjoyed his grandmother further endeared Mike to me.
Would this suitor's status as Sarah's boyfriend, change? I hoped so.
